Facebook

I remember a couple years ago when I first started working at Pt. We did not allow teens on myspace. You had to have a Public profile to go onto it. Kids were using their parents cards and so on. Times have changed.
The article written by that Faraka (sp)? was interesting. It sounds like several libraries banned Myspace and her point of view was refreshing. I am sure many teens across the USA cheered when their local library allowed patrons to log on to it with no restrictions.
I visited a couple public Libraries pages and thought they were really cool. I know Faraka dosen't like that word but... oh well. They were cool. Colorful and very appealing.
For Krl--I wonder if we could use a facebook or Myspace page for our upcoming election. Some of the presidential candidates have them. Try to get feedback that through that. I don't know what percentage of patrons visit sites such as these, we do know that the teens use it. It might work!!

Hmm, maybe can put this "social networking" tool to good use..post names of all those folks who have overdue books! Shame them into coming in! That might be a positive use of your time once we get self check out! Think of the resume possibilities! "MySpace Maven"! "Facebook Facilitator"! Wow! Accumulate Man
